Basic Working Principle
A five-cylinder mud pump is a positive displacement reciprocating pump, which achieves high-pressure and stable delivery of drilling fluid through the cycle of 'power transmission - piston reciprocation - slurry suction and discharge.
Overall System Composition
Power System (Power Core): The core components are AC variable frequency motors (mainstream) or hydraulic motors, paired with inverters and transformers (electric drive) or hydraulic pumps and valve assemblies (hydraulic drive). They are responsible for providing the power needed for piston reciprocating motion. Speed can be precisely controlled through variable frequency technology to accommodate different displacement requirements.
Transmission System (Power Conversion Core): Composed of crankshaft, connecting rods, crosshead, and gearbox. Its core function is to convert the rotational motion of the power source into the staggered reciprocating motion of five sets of pistons (crankshaft eccentric wheels with adjacent angles of 72°), ensuring smooth and loss-free power transmission.
Hydraulic End System (Fluid Transfer Core): Includes cylinders, pistons, suction valves, discharge valves, cylinder liners, and air chambers. Responsible for suction, compression, and discharge of drilling fluid. Lubrication System (Protection Core): Composed of a lubrication oil tank, oil pump, lubrication pipelines, and filters. It uses a combination of forced and splash lubrication to lubricate and cool the transmission system and hydraulic end moving components, preventing wear and overheating of parts and extending equipment life.
Auxiliary System (Support Core): Includes a spraying system (to cool and wash cylinder liners and pistons), an injection system (to prevent air locks and ensure smooth suction), and base and enclosure (to fix the pump body, dissipate heat, and facilitate maintenance), supporting normal and stable operation of the pump body.
Basic Principles and System Composition
Installation in place:Preparation: Secure the pump body and connecting pipelines, check each system, add lubricating oil, set control parameters, and ensure all systems are ready. Start-up: Start the power system to drive the pistons in alternating reciprocating motion; simultaneously start the lubrication, spraying, and filling systems, and accelerate to preset parameters. Normal operation: Pistons alternately suck and discharge slurry, air bag stabilizes output; PLC monitors in real time and automatically adjusts speed to ensure stable transport. Exception handling: Immediately alarm and stop the machine when an anomaly is detected, troubleshoot (blockage, leakage, etc.), and restart after repair. Shutdown and finishing: Shut down all systems, close valves, clean the pump body, inspect and replace wear parts, and record maintenance.
